What was it?

I liked it better when Congress was between sessions. Now I can see clearly what the term “Democratic-controlled Senate” really means.

The first signs were encouraging. Almost in unison they were saying, “There is no way we’re going to allow Roland Burris to take Obama’s seat.”

Now it appears he’ll be welcomed with open arms. I love the photo of Reid, Durbin, and Burris all having a nice laugh. They are enjoying themselves, aren't they?

What was it that turned the tide? Was it Bobby Rush (bomb-making pal of Bill Ayers) who said only racists would block Burris from taking his seat?

Was it the fact that Jesse White was starting to cave about signing his certificate because everyone was making him out to be the bad guy? (Can you call White a black-on-black racist? I don’t think so.)

Was it simply an attempt by the Democrat party to turn off this embarrassing spotlight so it doesn’t ruin the coronation on January 20th?

Whatever it is, I miss the Republicans in Washington. If nothing else they kept the Democrats from doing everything they please. And the Dems have nothing but green lights for the next two years at least. Yikes!
