In response to the recent death of a 45 year old woman in a holding cell at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, the United States Senate has scheduled hearings on the matter of police units at the nation’s airports.
The woman, on her way to alcohol rehab (and thus entitled to immunity from arrest according to the Lohan/Hilton/Richie vs. Logic case, LA District Court, 2006) became unruly when she missed her flight. The police were obliged to restrain her with handcuffs and shackle her in a holding room. They returned to find that she apparently strangled herself in an attempt to get free.
Senator Larry Craig will chair the hearings.
