Health Care Reform and Illegal Aliens

The wise (but hypothetical) Obama would have said Wednesday night:
"There is a terrible problem in our world today of people risking their lives and those of their families to enter the United States illegally, often crossing the treacherous desert, sometimes losing their lives in the process.
This must stop. And one way to help is to eliminate known incentives for them to come here. One such incentive is our health care.
We must thoughtfully craft language into the health care bill that will ban illegal aliens from receiving all but the most basic emergency care.
I will veto any bill placed before me that does not have such safeguards."

The bipartisan (but also hypothetical) Obama would have said:
"Some members of congress on the other side of the aisle are concerned that undocumented persons may be able to benefit from health care reform. The Congressional Research Service has pointed out possible loopholes. I therefore urge congress to investigate this issue and act accordingly."

Instead, this is exactly what Obama did say. Note the partisan denial:
"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

And Rep. Joe Wilson called out, "You lie!"

The best camera shot of the night was the prolonged icy stare of Nancy Pelosi when Wilson said that. It reminded me of the TV mom who glares at her son over roll-over minutes on the cell phone.

That same Nancy is making headlines today, claiming that the House is addressing the loopholes.
What a joke this administration is.
