Bipartisan Boy Wonder

Do you remember a year ago? The Obama-McCain debates? The daily pronouncements by the candidates?

We were all led to believe that Obama would “reach across the aisle” and make sure conservative voices were heard. Obama was the candidate with the bipartisan bona fides, despite his ultra-liberal voting record and despite a clear history of McCain working within bipartisan committees for decades.

Despite what he claimed then, and despite his own words as recently as September 16th (“…it’s a plan that incorporates ideas from Senators and Congressmen; from Democrats and Republicans…”), Obama continues to disenfranchise conservatives.

I bring the following as evidence.
1) The day after the 9/12 rally in Washington DC, where two million citizens protested big government and Obama policies, David Axelrod told Face the Nation that "I don't think it's indicative of the nation's mood. You know, I don't think we ought to be distracted by that. My message to them is, they're wrong."
2) Since as far back as April, Obama has refused to meet with Republican Congressmen to discuss their health care proposal, but instead tells the world that the GOP has no alternative.
3) When Obama made the rounds with the media yesterday, he deliberately bypassed Fox News.

It might be wise politics to smear conservatives rather than listen to them, but don’t you dare call it bipartisanship.
